Top 10 Pac Ten Athletes of All Time

After watching USC in the national championship game, I thought it would be fun to post my picks for the top 10 Pac Ten athletes of all time. My list has the stipulations that the athlete accelled in college, but then also had success after college and also that the athlete played in the 2nd half of the 20th Century. Here we go:

Top 10 Pac 10 athletes, 1950-present

1. Barry Bonds, ASU - The #1 all time baseball
player is probably the #1 all time Pac 10 Athlete.

2. Tiger Woods, Stanford - I would give Tiger
a good chance at becoming #1 some day.

3. Kareem Abdul Jabbar, UCLA - Until I went and looked
at this dude's stats I didn't realize how utterly
dominant he was.

4. OJ Simpson, USC - People easily forget
how good OJ was.

5. Jennie Finch, Arizona - gotta give
props to the superstar of women's softball.

6. John Elway, Stanford - 2 Superbowls
at the tail end of his career really made his stats better.

7. Mark McGwire, USC.

8. Bill Walton, UCLA

9. Randy Johnson, USC

10. Anika Sorenstam, Arizona - the greatest
woman golfer of all time

There you go, 2 golfers, 2 women, 2 basketball players. Maybe a guy like Kenny Lofton should get some credit for playing in more than one sport. I noticed my list didn't contain a single athlete from the 4 schools in Washington or Oregon. I wonder who the best athletes from those schools are?

It is gauche to comment on your own post, but a friend of mine told me that Kareem was waay to low on my list, so I went a read up on him, and my friend was right.
